Taylor Swift’s father, Travis Kelce’s father, has given even more information about his engagement to the rapper. The couple announced their engagement earlier this week in a post on social media, prompting Ed Kelce’s insight.
Taylor, 35, and Travis, also 35, who went public with their relationship two years ago, shared the news on Instagram yesterday. Their joint post included photos of them surrounded by flowers at a location that has since been identified as the garden at Travis’ home.
Since the news broke, Travis’ father Ed, 74, has provided details about the proposal in interviews. As previously reported, it has included him sharing the Kansas City Chiefs player got down on one knee around two weeks ago.
In an interview with Emma from the Jimmy &, Nath Show, Ed provided some specifics. He mentioned how Travis’ team was hiding in the bushes amid the proposal and Taylor’s potential understanding of what was to come when he appeared on the radio show.
He claimed on the program that Travis had encouraged Taylor to visit the property for a glass of wine before heading home for a meal. She may have recognized it as a proposal when she went outside, he claimed.
Ed suggested there were more flowers there than usual. According to Ed, “I think she knew something was up because she could see suddenly there were a lot more flowers out there.”
Ed claimed in the interview that people “help Travis out with a lot of things” had decorated his son’s garden. He continued, “They got it all ready. They actually hid in the bushes so they wouldn’t be a part of it because they saw them coming.
When his son asked how long the ring had been around before popping the question, Ed replied, “Oh, I don’t know. I believe I saw it earlier in the summer, perhaps in July. He claimed Travis had been “ready” but “had a lot going on” over the past few months.
Travis and Taylor kept the engagement “quiet for a while,” according to Ed in the interview. He suggested that the move was made in response to her criticism of earlier this month’s release of her album, The Life of a Showgirl. You don’t want to stifle that energy, he said.
His comments come after Taylor and Travis announced their engagement yesterday. The couple shared a series of photos from the proposal, including showcasing the ring, and were met with well wishes from fans at the time.
Taylor and Travis wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” next to a TNT emoji in their post’s caption. Taylor’s song So High School, which was included on her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, was also included in the post.
