One presenter on a lot of people’s lips at the moment is Claudia Winkleman, with several people wanting to copy her Traitors-inspired fashion and learn a bit more about what she’s really like. However, some fans have been left a little taken aback after discovering what she looks like without a fringe.
For years, Claudia’s dark locks and blunt fringe have formed a great part of her identity, frankly adding to her unique look. However, years ago, when she was starting out on TV, she looked totally different and viewers simply can’t get over the contrast after footage emerged from the BBC archive on Instagram.
It’s not the only thing that has taken fans by surprise lately either. Just days ago, she shocked them by shaking up her look in a different way.
The clip was shared alongside the caption: “1996: Claudia Winkleman on how to improve your pulling power #OnThisDay 1996: Claudia Winkleman had some top tips and choice chat-up lines to help men and women alike, to improve their pulling power.
“Clip taken from Good Morning with Anne and Nick, originally broadcast 3 May 1996.” When you see the footage, you’ll notice that Claudia looks totally different as she models longer, lighter locks with no fringe at all.
Naturally, this was the first thing people were drawn to, and many simply couldn’t get over how different she looked. It’s since been viewed thousands of times.
One person said: “That’s the first time I’ve seen Claudia’s eyes. Aren’t they lovely!” Another added: “Pre-fringe Winkleman!”
A third replied: “Oh wow. I would never have known that was Claudia.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I would never have recognised her!”
One more also chimed in with: “I don’t think I would have recognised her!” Another also noted: “She looked so different back then. I hardly recognise her.”
Even though many people said they think she’s always been “beautiful”, quite a few were taken by surprise. They couldn’t believe just how much she’s changed over the years.
Has Claudia commented on her fringe?
In the past, Claudia has talked openly about her fringe. She previously told Good Housekeeping: “Even I know my fringe is bad.
“But basically I’ve got such bad eyesight, I can’t see it anyway, so it’s not a problem.” People may not realise it, but Claudia was born with severe myopia, and has spent her life battling blurry vision, even though she’s undergone surgery more than once.
She added to Good Housekeeping: “People tell me I’m squinting but, because my sight’s so bad, it’s made no difference whether my fringe is down to my nose. My fantasy is to have it so long I have to part it to answer a question!”
In the past, Claudia has also discussed her sight issues in an interview with the How To Fail podcast. Speaking to the host, she said: ‘I’ve always had terrible eyesight, which goes back to the blurriness of the paintings I like, and the blurriness of how I really like life to be.
