Harry Derbidge’s ex-boyfriend, who had just got engaged to Harry Derbidge, was devastated by his tragic and unanticipated death.
TOWIE star Harry Derbidge’s ex-boyfriend Dean Rowland has announced the death of his fiance. Dean shared the heartbreaking news via Facebook and spoke about how devastated he was by the sudden death.
Dean shared a selfie of him and Steven Hewitt in all black gym gear and wrote over the top: “My heart is broken and will never be the same again, I love you so much.”
In the post’s caption, he added: “The world didn’t deserve you, the best of the best, you’ll forever be my one true love, I love you so much [broken heart emoji] I can’t believe I’ve got to go on without you.”

One commenter wrote that their hearts were “completely broken” for Dean and everyone close to Steven, while others expressed support for Dean. They emailed “Dean, I’m so sorry my heart is completely broken for you and all of Steven’s family and friends,” and they emailed “heartbreak emoji] sending you all of our love xxx.”
Steven, who was hairdresser in Glasgow, died a year after he and Dean got engaged. The pair had been together for four years but only decided to get married in January 2025. That month, Dean shared a series of videos from the proposal, which happened at the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. He wrote over the videos: “I said YES! Completely overwhelmed and filled with joy.
I couldn’t be happier starting this new chapter with the love of my life because Stephen surprised me with the most beautiful proposal. A lifetime of love, laughter, and adventures await you forever. “Dean and Steven were looking for a wedding venue as they finished their home renovations just a few months ago, in October.”
Dean continued in his statement regarding Steven’s passing by saying, “This year gave me memories I will never forget and people I am endlessly grateful for.” He thanked Steven for being my constant, my harmony, and all of my chaos, “Thank you for being my home wherever we are.”
He continued, “If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that life moves quickly, moments matter, and the right people make things better.” To growth, love, laughter, and whatever comes next.
Before moving forward, Dean and TOWIE’s Harry had been engaged, but they broke up in 2021 because of the pandemic and postponed their adoption plans.
Harry said on Towie at the time, “To be with someone for four years… and for it to not work out, it has just been the most heartbreaking like awful thing I’ve had to go through.” I gave everything to this relationship, and I did it so much! To the point where I could give so much that it actually led to debate.
Harry and I have decided to part ways, according to Dean, after four long, amazing years. I’m sharing this with you all with a very heavy heart and complete anxiety. Two best friends have realized it’s time to take some space and help each other lead the most joyful, fulfilled lives possible, with no secrets or salacious events at the center of the decision.
He continues to be a significant part of my life and I would not give him any more. No relationship is easy, and we all know that. However, I can honestly say that the last four years have provided the most incredible experiences for a human being. After all of our laughter, crying, and wine consumption, I still have the greatest respect for Harry and his choices going forward.
