The Toronto Blue Jays won their first World Series title since 1993 thanks to a first-inning blitz and Trey Yesavage’s dominant outing.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated Major League Baseball’s only Canadian franchise 6-1 to take the best-of-seven “Fall Classic,” which is now coming to Toronto for its conclusion.

Yesavage, a rookie right-hander who was only called up to the majors in September, threw seven solid innings, allowing 12 strikeouts, breaking the record for a rookie in the World Series, and only allowed one run.

The Dodgers were 2-0 up before some fans had even taken their seats as Davis Schneider hit the home run with the first pitch of the night over left field. Vladimir Guerrero Jr then hit the next pitch to make it happen again.

In the bottom of the third inning, Toronto doubled their lead before Ernie Clement’s sacrifice fly put Daulton Varsho on the board.

In the top of the seventh inning, Addison Barger was given a wild pitch and a walk before Bo Bichette drove in Andres Gimenez for a 5-1 lead.

On a night when even the Dodgers’ Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani went hitless for the second game in a row, Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s base hit added another run to the eighth inning as the home fans headed for the exits.
