In recognition of his significant contributions to religion, education, and leadership, President Bola Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Sciences, Azare, after Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a renowned Islamic scholar.
Tinubu made the announcement on Saturday during a condolence visit to Bauchi State, where he paid tribute to the late cleric, offered condolences for his soul repose, and shared condolences with his family.
The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, and other senior government officials, including governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, ministers, and other officials, welcomed the president to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of health, Ali Pate, Shehu Buba, and other dignitaries were among those present.

Tajuddeen Abbas, the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and other well-known figures were among the members of the president’s entourage.
Governor Mohammed thanked President Tinubu for the condolences and the decision to rename the university in honor of the Sheikh.
The governor referred to the gesture as a great honor for both Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Mohammed described Sheikh Usman’s passing as a significant national loss.
The Sheikh’s lifelong commitment to tolerance, interfaith harmony, and tolerance was praised by the governor.
The Bauchi leader was expressing condolences to the Sheikh’s family, followers, students, and the wider Muslim community in a statement released by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a renowned authority on Islamic scholarship. Throughout his remarkable life, he embodied deep faith, humility, and wisdom,” the governor said.
