The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Bankers’ Committee collaborated to fund and oversee the renovation of the Center.
The transformation of the facility into a national asset and a launchpad for Nigeria’s creative industries was aided by the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, which provided policy direction and oversight.
In honor of the Nobel Laureate, Tinubu changed the name of the building to the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in July 2024.
The Wole Soyinka Center for Culture and the Creative Arts will serve as a venue for conferences and performances, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also provides a venue for the world’s largest conferences and performances.
