President Bola Tinubu has congratulated two Nigerians, Farouk Gumel and Tobi Amusan, on their recent accomplishments, describing them as sources of national pride.
The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the President’s message in a State House release on Tuesday.
Tinubu praised President Duma Boko for appointing Gumel as Chairman of the newly launched Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund.
He described the appointment as “a testament to Gumel’s expertise, dedication,” and the growing international regard for Nigerian professionals.
“As Vice Chairman for Africa at the Tropical General Investment Group, among other roles, Gumel has been instrumental in Nigeria’s food sufficiency efforts,” Tinubu said.

The President expressed confidence that Gumel’s leadership will enhance Nigeria’s reputation for excellence in global finance and international economic management.
Amusan’s Silver Medal

Tinubu hailed Amusan for winning the silver medal at the women’s 100m hurdles final during the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday.
Amusan clocked 12.29 seconds, finishing behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who secured gold in a national record of 12.24 seconds.
Grace Stark claimed bronze in 12.34 seconds, and Olympic champion Masai Russell finished fourth with 12.44 seconds.

The President praised Amusan’s drive and resilience, stating, “Tobi has once again shown that determination and patriotic spirit make any height attainable.”
He added that her achievement serves as a source of inspiration and pride for Nigerians at home and abroad.
