At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, President Bola Tinubu has arrived.

At precisely 4:10 p.m., Tinubu arrived.

The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, and three other state executive council members gave him a welcome.

The President was also met by, among others, his Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, his Senior Special Advisor to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, and Cornelius Ojelabi, the All-President of Lagos State.

On his arrival in Lagos on May 27, 2025, Tinubu inspects the guard of honor.

After inspecting the guard of honor, Tinubu made his way to his Lagos, Victoria Island, home.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is celebrating its 50th anniversary on April 1.

The ECOWAS Golden Jubilee, which was officially launched in Accra, Ghana, in April, will be celebrated with Tinubu and other leaders.

The Lagos events will include reenacting the 1975 declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Victoria Island, according to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Ononuga, and posted on X on Monday.

The welcome address is scheduled to be delivered by Dr. Omar Touray, the ECOWAS Commission’s president.

President Tinubu, the head of the ECOWAS, will highlight the achievements of the economic bloc at the Eko Hotels and Suites event. The bloc’s 50-year journey will be reviewed by the NIIA’s Chairman and former minister of external affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, which panellists at the NIIA will later analyze.

The statement read, “Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), the only surviving Head of State who signed the ECOWAS declaration, will take part in all the ceremonies and deliver a speech at the Eko Hotels.
