Timothée Chalamet, the star of “team” Timothée, paid emotional tribute to “partner” Kylie Jenner on Sunday night at the Critics Choice Award ceremony to accept the Best Actor award.
US film star Timothée Chalamet made a rare tribute to his longtime girlfriend Kylie Jenner as he won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor last night, declaring his love for the reality star. Timothée, 30, took to the stage at the prestigious do after winning the coveted gong for his performance in Josh Safdie drama Marty Supreme.
After beating the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke and Michael B. Jordan, Timothée opened up about his relationship with the Kardashians star in his winner’s spech. “Thank you to my partner for three years,” he said.
“I adore you. Without you, I couldn’t accomplish this. I want to thank you without a doubt. Kylie in the audience retorted the phrase “I love you” at the actor as the camera rolled.
Since its release earlier this year, Timothée has been cast as the titular shoe salesman who grafts to a career in 1950s New York. Martin Reisman, a star of American table tennis, was loosely the inspiration for the story.
Before thanking director Josh Safdie, Timothée admitted, “I’m more nervous than I thought I’d be.” You didn’t preach what is right and wrong to the audience, and you instead created a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream. That’s what I believe we should be doing as a whole.
He continued, “Thank you for this dream.” The American actor also acknowledged Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton of One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke of Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan of Sinners, and Wagner Moura of The Secret Angel.
Timothée’s speech, however, did not impress Michael because he remained stony-faced as the cameras cut his way. One fan wrote, “Not them cutting to Michael B. Jordan,” as Timothée referred to Kylie, and the audience saw the humorous side of the TV moment.
“The camera being on Michael B. Jordan while Timothee thanks my partner of three years,” one wrote, and a third wrote, “It’s taking me out how the camera work implies at first that his partner is Michael B. Jordan.”
