In the final game of their play-off semi-finals, Oklahoma City Thunder defeated Denver Nuggets 125-93 to set up a showdown with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The series was relegated to a seventh game thanks to a Thursday night victory for the Nuggets, but Denver was completely wiped out in their seventh meeting.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder’s MVP candidate, scored 35 points to advance to the Conference finals for the first time since 2016.
Denver are now 4-3 in decisive matches following the loss to Oklahoma, but they have played more game sevens than any other team in the previous seven years.
And they kept that advantage as the evening progressed, adding Jalen Williams’ 24-point contribution to the home crowd’s delight.
There might be a new name on the NBA trophy for the first time in at least 52 years when the Indiana Pacers take on the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference championship game.
Oklahoma, Indiana, and Minnesota have never won, despite the Knicks having been the last champions in 1973.
