The Oklahoma City Thunder took a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-103.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who just won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the year, led the Thunder with 38 points.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored at least 30 points for the fifth consecutive play-off game, added eight assists and three rebounds in the win-loss series on Wednesday, which earned him 31 points.

“We came out in the first half, grabbed the lead, held it, extended it in the third, and finished it through the fourth quarter,” said Oklahoma’s Alex Caruso.

With 32 points, six assists, and nine rebounds, Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves.

When the Timberwolves host the third game on Sunday at 11:30 BST, they will attempt to break into the series.

Oklahoma has won two of their previous three games at the Target Center in Minneapolis, but Minnesota has lost just one of their previous ten games.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said, “Every minute in the series is a chance to find something.”
