After being diagnosed with testicular cancer, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic has begun receiving chemotherapy.
The 20-year-old Serb underwent a biopsy procedure on October 6 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Topic’s long-term health is being treated as “extremely positive,” according to Thunder general manager Sam Presti.
He is currently dealing with a case of testicular cancer, according to Presti.
Tope, who has recently started the treatments, didn’t want to make this information public until he had already started them. He has spent the entire time being in this place, training, and working out.
He has a fantastic group of oncologists, and they are very supportive of his approach to the situation.
When Topic was scheduled to return, Presti stated, “Our only expectations for him are focus on this,” without setting a timer.
“This is his top priority,” he said. When he returns, he’ll be able to play basketball, but we don’t have any time constraints or expectations for that.
He receives our full support, encouragement, and love.
