In their second successive victory, Manchester Thunder won the Netball Super League game 81-65.

Despite a Forest comeback, Thunder dominated the opening quarter and led 39-29 at halftime.

With captain Amy Carter named player of the match and goal attack Elmere van der Berg scoring 52 goals, the hosts eased to victory.

Usain Bolt, the eight-time Olympic champion, was present at Manchester’s Belle Vue Arena.

London Pulse also triumphed over the London Mavericks 78-42 to remain unbeaten at the top of the table in other games.

The Mavericks were unable to respond after the match, which had been won by both teams at two from two at halftime. Pulse jumped out to a 40-19 lead at halftime.

Player of the match was Pulse wing-defence Zara Everitt.

Due to Leah Middleton’s injury, the Cardiff Dragons and Birmingham Panthers had to cancel the game, which was both looking for their first victory.

The Thunder win, “It wasn’t the prettiest,” was the audience’s reaction.

Amy Carter, the Manchester Thunder’s player of the match, said: “We met them] Forest[/[/] in the pre-season and they blew us out of the water.

It’s exciting to be able to incorporate our younger players into our squad because that’s our strength is bringing that through.

Karen Greig, the head coach of the Manchester Thunder, said, “I don’t think it was very pretty.” I’d like to see us stepping up a little bit because we were a little too sluggish at times and played too wide.

“But we’re still building, and we’re gaining a lot from each game. At the end of the second quarter, we let them back in, so we’ll be open to that and return to the drawing board.

We’ll definitely accept a 16-goal win at this point in the season, though.

Chelsea Pitman, head coach of Nottingham Forest, said, “We need to start better than we can rely on chasing down a lead.”
