Nikola Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP, injured his knee in the 147-123 loss to the Miami Heat, which was “gut-wrenching.”

Late in the first half, Jokic and teammate Spencer Jones accidentally collided.

Jokic immediately fell to the ground with his knees as Jones approached.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old will undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the problem’s severity.

According to Nuggets head coach David Adelman, “he immediately knew something was wrong.”

“This belongs to the NBA,” he said. Anyone who suffers is horribly hurt, especially someone as unique as he is. Tomorrow, we’ll learn more.

We’ll work together to move forward. I’m obviously more concerned with his persona and the disappointment of going through that right now.
