Following a fight between suspected drug dealers and security forces in the Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters of the Katsina metropolis’ Kwabron Dorawa-Unguwar Nayalle area, at least three people have died and several others have been injured.
Security personnel made an attempt to arrest and seize the mobile phone and suspected illicit drugs, according to Uzairu, one of the area’s suspected drug dealers, who was also known as “Kuda.”
According to an eyewitness, Kuda resisted arrest and mobilized his friends to retrieve his phone from the operatives, leading to his death after being shot by a security guard. The situation then quickly turned into chaos.
Some irate young people burned down some motorcycles and an outpost of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) during the chaos.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police public relations officer for the Katsina State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Sunday in a statement. He claimed the incident escalated during the deceased’s funeral procession on Sunday when two tragically hit people who were rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
Sadiq however urged the general public to refrain from violating the law in these circumstances.

Kuda called out gang members who had “criminally conspired and attacked the police team, damaged the operational vehicle, and injured several officers,” he said.
Kuda claims that the miscreants stabbed one of the officers with a knife in a bid to disarm him. When the officers attempted to secure the rifle, a shot was released, hitting and hurting him. He was taken to the hospital, but the doctor’s doctor, who was on duty, later confirmed that he was dead.
He recalls that some suspected social miscreants started burning the NSCDC outpost in Sabuwar Unguwa on December 28th, 2025, as part of the funeral procession of the deceased in an effort to express their anger over the deceased’s passing.
The miscreants also made an attempt to blaze up the nearby police station. Police reinforcements arrived at the scene right away after receiving the report.
The officers worked with NSCDC personnel to control the situation, but unfortunately one of the miscreants got a deep machete cut on one police officer and damaged a police patrol van significantly.
