Thomas Skinner tweeted about how he ‘always tries to be a positive force in people’s lives’ hours before storming out of a Strictly Come Dancing interview
Thomas Skinner furiously declared he ‘can’t be bought’ in a lengthy tweet shared with followers hours before storming out of a Strictly Come Dancing interview. Fans were divided when The Apprentice star was announced as part of the line-up for this year’s BBC dance competition.
The 34-year-old initially gained a huge following due to his everyman persona mainly going on about grafting hard for success. However, he has been at the receiving end of backlash in recent months due to his controversial social media posts and newly-formed friendship with US Vice President JD Vance.
Weeks before Strictly kicks off, stars taking part in the show chatted to journalists about their experiences so far. However, in a shock moment, he grabbed a reporter’s phone as they asked him to stop.

The divisive figure took issue with a reporter recording an interview, a common practise, during the big Strictly Come Dancing press day.
He had arrived at the table alongside fellow contestant, former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who was left having to do interviews on his own.
This morning, Thomas posted about how he ‘won’t say things just to keep people happy’ and will ‘always try to be a positive force in people’s lives’.
He said in the tweet: “I’ve always stood up for the everyday person like myself, the people who graft, who work hard, provide for their families and who keep this beautiful country moving from all walks of life. I’m proud of my family. I love my kids. I love my wife. I support those around me, and I’ll always try to be a positive force in people’s lives.
“I cannot be bought. I won’t say things just to keep people happy like others do. I am not a weathercock who changes opinions to gain clout like others you see online or social media. I’ll say what I believe in, even when it’s not easy.
“Because that’s what we need more of in today’s world. I will never forget my roots, and I will never back down from standing shoulder to shoulder with the people who make this nation what it is. They can say and spread misinformation all they like about me to try and get me down. But it only makes me stronger. Love you all. Bosh.”
Only a few hours passed before he stormed out of an interview. An insider told the Mirror: “He walked to the table with his head down, he sat down, grabbed one of the reporters phones, who told him to stop. It was a shock. His reaction came out of nowhere.”
Another source told us: “It was totally out of the blue. He was absolutely fine during the first interview. In good spirits and delighted and surprised to be there. Like a competition winner.”
His actions are said to have left organisers furious and BBC bosses in talks over whether he should remain on the show.
A female journalist had simply asked Skinner what had motivated him to sign up for Strictly, which left the reality TV star realising he was being recorded on a phone during the press event. “What’s that?” Skinner demanded, before picking up the woman’s phone and taking it from the table.
The journalist responded asking: “What are you doing, can you answer the question, we have only got three minutes. I’m just recording him.”
