Superdrug has a new, affordable skin tint that is foolproof to apply and instantly improves skin appearance, whether it’s tired or jet-lagged.

Always on the lookout for the perfect face base that keeps my skin looking radiant, bright, and even-toned while still looking completely natural, I enjoy trying out new foundations, tinted moisturisers, and skin tints.

There have been some pretty strong contenders launch this year for me – including Dior Forever Hydra Nude and Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint – but I’ve hit upon a surprising new contender – and it costs just £6.99.

For “instant glowing skin,” according to the high street make-up brand Collection Cosmetics, the lightweight and buildable face base containing niacinamide, squalane, and vitamin C has just been released. It costs £6.99 from Superdrug and Boots and is available in eight different shades.

I admit that I did have some reservations about how effective this might be because I love my skin looking the best it can with foundation and other face bases being one of the make-up products I don’t mind spending a little extra money on. I’ve been very impressed, though.

Although I always use a brush to apply makeup to my face, this also works really well with fingers because it can be easily blended and dabbed on just where you need it.

Instant glow is achieved in a flattering, all-natural manner, just as it’s supposed to be. When I first boarded a 16-hour flight, my skin was looking particularly gray and tired, and I immediately noticed a lot of improvement. Despite how good my skin looked, I occasionally caught my reflection throughout the day.

It felt very comfortable to wear, and I didn’t find that it grew creases or went over the years like I do with some skin tints.

Despite Collection’s claim that it “lasts up to 24 hours,” I discovered that it had a slight fade by the middle of the afternoon, as with most skin tints and light coverage products that give glow rather than mattify. I’m completely convinced that this is a great everyday face base for a great price.

Additionally, I’d like to see a few more shades in the range. There isn’t much at the darker end of the skin tone spectrum despite the fact that they are very flexible (meaning that the formula stretches over more shades than a fuller coverage product would) due to how sheer they are. (For reference, I wear shade 2 Fair.)

Our Mirror beauty team has tested a lot of different skin types this year, as well as some new favorites worth checking out. One of my best beauty launches of 2025 is Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Gel Tint, which is priced at £34. It has been a huge hit with beauty editors this year and lasts longer than most.

Our vote goes to Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint Foundation, £49, for something creamier and more hydrating, perhaps if your skin is more dry. They don’t come much nicer feeling than this, despite being expensive if you want sheer-to-light coverage. This feels incredibly hydrating on the skin without appearing overly shiny or dewy, which is more similar to a tinted moisturiser, IMO, but with a little more coverage and longevity.
