Suede has been covering all of the runways recently, and now in a fantastic way for 2025. Finally, we’re seeing styles trickle into the high street, including a gorgeous skirt as seen on This Morning’s Alison Hammond.
The 50-year-old presenter appeared alongside Dermot O’Leary on Wednesday, February 19, stepping in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard for half term. And the Birmingham-born babe nailed the latest style trend with a knee-length skirt from River Island.
Channeling sleek minimalism, Alison wore the Brown faux suede Knee Length Midi Skirt, which costs £39 at the retailer. The skirt is midi length and has a zip fastening and two practical pockets, making it ideal for pairing with a knee-high boot for a striking look or pairing it with a pair of flats for a more relaxed and comfortable look.

The Great British Bake Off presenter paired the skirt with a white New Look tie-detail shirt, Rachael Hughes, for the occasion. And while her exact blouse is currently sold out, this £77 &, Other Stories option makes a chic alternative.
The River Island skirt has the advantage of being more affordable despite not being made of real suede, which is thought to be more durable than fake ones. And Alison’s ensemble was a master of season-appropriate attire.
But you don’t have to stick to a white shirt, as there are plenty of ways to play with suede, from denim pairings, such as this £59 Kurt Button-Down Mid Wash Denim Jacket from Joanie, to softer textures like cashmere. The Relaxed Cashmere-Wool Jumper at £159 is a solid, stylish choice for this outfit, and comes in a range of colours.
As well as skirts, suede jackets, trainers and bags all trending. The Clarks Torhills are likely to be a popular choice in terms of footwear. According to Google trends, the chunky platform boots have consistently increased in searches since the start of the year, and they are already recognized as one of the top-selling styles on the Clarks website. Available for £110, the suede platform boots are stylish, modern and timeless, all whilst having a cooler vibe than a standard pair of boots or loafers.

According to the Marks &, Spencer website their Suedette Biker Jacket, £69, is currently its third best-seller in the coats and jackets section. This faux suede number, which incorporates all the classic biker jacket details, is a welcome change from the boxy, blazer-style suede jackets we’ve seen a lot of in the last month. Some key features of the jacket include an off-centre zip, a neat collarless neckline, four different pockets, and silver hardware for authentic biker-style finishing touches.
