The Wanted star Max George has returned to hospital for a scan following his heart surgery in 2024 in which the 37-year-old singer had a pacemaker fitted
Max George has revealed he is back in hospital due to an “issue” following his major heart surgery. The Wanted singer, 37, underwent heart surgery in late 2024 for a heart block.
The star received a pacemaker at the time. He later had a second procedure for a misplaced wire and has kept his followers updated with his regular hospital visits.
And now, Max has told his Instagram followers that he required a scan. Posting on his Instagram Stories, the musician shared a clip of himself waiting outside an x-ray area in hospital. He simply captioned the upload: “Another scan…” He then followed it up with an update on his visit.

“So I’m just at the hospital in the building where I had all my heart surgeries done,” he said. “I can’t say it’s good to be back, because it’s not.
“I’ve just had a scan done on my chest because I’ve had a bit of an issue with one of my lung apparently,” he went on. “Should be fine.
“It’s just a precaution, but yeah. Back in my old second home.” He signed off by giving a thumbs up and wishing his followers a good weekend.
Last November Max issued a health update after he was once again rushed to hospital. At the time he called the scenario “scary”.
He had been taken into hospital and underwent MRI scans just days before he was due to head out on tour last year. Speaking to the Mirror from Manchester at the time, where he joined Guides and Rangers ahead of the Big Gig Performance at OVO Arena Wembley, Max said: “I had an arrhythmia – the top half of my heart was doing 50, which it should, and the bottom was 160, it was out of sync.
“It was scary but I’m alright now. I needed medication and I’m on that now, as it keeps it stable.” An arrhythmia is an abnormal rhythm, with the heart beating too fast or too slow due to a disruption in the signals.
He went on to explain: “Getting used to life that’s a little bit different. Stuff like exercise, I have to be careful doing too much because I depend on my pacemaker.
“I have to not damage it, doing things like football, skiing, stuff that I love doing, which is hard.” He added: “It is what it is, you have to get on with it.”
And he admitted the whole issue in the first place was “crazy”. “It literally came out of nowhere,” he said. “I’ve just been on this tour in America, everything was fine, and it just happened at home.
“It was a massive shock, and before I knew it, I was at home with a pacemaker. You don’t really have time to think about it, to be honest.”
