The Lioness squad won the Euro Cup for the second time in a row on Sunday night, and the Lioness squad won. However, their victory dealt Spain a crushing blow, as Lucy Bronze, England’s Lucy, comforted Ona Batlle amid rumors of their romance, brought to light.

In a thrilling penalty shootout against Spain, following an exhausting 120-minute final, the Lionesses emerged victorious. Mariona Caldentey initially put Spain ahead with a header in the 25th minute, but England’s Alessia Russo equalised with a headed goal from Chloe Kelly’s cross after half-time.

After Sama Paralluelo’s miss, Lioness goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made a number of impressive saves during the tense shootout before Kelly took the win. As the England squad soaked up their victory, “Sweet Caroline” blared through the speakers in a celebration across the Swiss stadium.

However, defender Lucy Bronze was seen comforting Spanish footballer Ona Batlle after leaving celebrations with her team. In a heartfelt moment, Bronze offered some emotional support to Batlle, who was struggling with their defeat against England.

Later, the team’s bronze medalist, who had changed into her tracksuit, took a walk around the stadium in yet another heartfelt nod of support, while bronze was draped around her neck and sporting a medal-carrying medal around her neck. When Spain defeated England in the women’s World Cup final in 2023, the roles were completely reversed a few years ago.

After Spain won, Batlle was spotted holding onto Bronze, who was groping on the sidelines, after two years. The Spanish player was sitting down wearing the iconic Lioness pink and blue coat from that year while her arms circled the teary Bronze.

Bronze and Batlle, who were previously teammates at Barcelona, appear to have struck up a close relationship over the years and have hinted at a possible romance. While neither of the pair has gone official, they have shared a series of cosy snaps together on social media.

Just weeks before the Euros kicked off in Switzerland, Bronze and Batlle enjoyed a sun-soaked getaway together. In a series of photos shared on Instagram, Lucy wrote the caption: “Few days of sun,” while Ona commented with a heart-eyed emoji.

The pair posed for a mirror selfie during a trip that was particularly close to the subject. In December of last year, they even took a trip to Disneyland Paris together, where they also took a photo together.

Bronze and Batlle are thought to have sparked up a close bond when they both played for Barcelona during the 2023-24 season. During this time, they won the Champions League, Liga F, the Spanish Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup together.

Bronze moved back to Chelsea last summer as a right-back, while Batlle remains as a full-back for Barcelona.

Sensationally, Bronze revealed that she had a broken tibia when she competed in the 2025 Euro final. After the final match, she revealed that no one knew that she had actually played the entire tournament with a fractious tibia. Then, today, I accidentally injured my knee on one leg.

She continued, “That’s what I’ll do.” They are aware of this, and I believe that playing through those dynamics helped us ultimately achieve our goals. That’s it, I’m going to party and enjoy it even though it was very painful.
