Davina McCall, one of the celebrity detective on The Masked Singer UK alongside Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Maya Jama, has shared a message with fans after having an “emotional day”
The Masked Singer UK star Davina McCall has reached out to supporters following what she described as an “emotional day”.
The 58-year-old television personality turned to Instagram to share her reflections on “National Quitters Day”.
In footage uploaded to her social media profile, she highlighted that January 9 marks the date when individuals are statistically most prone to abandoning their goals, including New Year’s resolutions.
Davina remarked: “But there’s nothing happy about that. We shouldn’t be celebrating that. We should have a happy ‘congratulations on still going for it when everyone else is giving up day’. That’s what we should say.”
She added: “It is quite difficult at this time of year because all of the buzz of Christmas and New Year has subsided, and it is just a grey, stormy day.”
The presenter then plugged her podcast, Begin Again, calling it the “reset podcast”.
The broadcaster subsequently delivered a significant health announcement, revealing she had completed her radiotherapy treatment. “It was very very emotional,” she confessed, reports the Express.
Fighting back tears, she added: “Much more emotional than I thought it would be. So I need a bit of positivity and brilliance.”
In the accompanying caption, Davina penned: “Today is #nationalquittersday… how depressing? ? Let’s reframe this! ! ! Also wanted to add to my post… I’m good, don’t worry about me x it’s been an emotional day, but I’m relieved, grateful, happy and hopeful @beginagain the ‘reset podcast’.”

Fans rallied around her with messages of support, with one writing: “Sending so much love Davina. Let’s Begin Again – all together x”.
Another person said: “Aww Davina, what a hard year you’ve had, sending you so much love and healing vibes,” whilst someone else added: “Well done Davina… you are doing so well… so happy you completed treatment.”
Last November, Davina had surgery to remove a small lump after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. She also revealed plans to undergo five days of preventative radiotherapy in January as an “insurance policy” to reduce the risk of recurrence.
The television presenter discovered the lump during a self-examination, which she carried out after being inspired by Lorraine Kelly’s awareness campaign. Since then, she has been openly discussing her experience to urge others to perform regular self-checks and detect cancer at an earlier stage.
This comes after she previously received treatment for a benign brain tumour towards the end of 2024.
