Actress and singer Taylor Momsen, who played Cindy Lou in The Grinch, shares her delight in reuniting with her “mean and hairy and smelly” co-star Jim Carrey during a magical Christmas reunion.

Family festive favourite, The Grinch, produced one of the 2000’s most prominent stars – and she’s still a regular feature on our screens today.

The live-action festive film stars Jim Carrey as the titular green grouch and draws from Dr. Seuss’s timeless 1957 children’s tale. The story unfolds in the magical village of Whoville, where its cheerful residents are busily preparing for their Christmas festivities.

Taylor Momsen starred as Cindy Lou Who when she was just seven years old. Now, 25 years on, she became a gothic queen bee in Gossip Girl and ventured into the music world, becoming a rockstar in her own right.

Despite working on the film a quarter of a century ago, Momsen still believes Jim Carrey’s Grinch is “sweet”, as the memory of the Christmas classic is still fresh.

She first met Carrey on the set of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Momsen told PEOPLE that the whole ordeal was “absolutely insane, kismet, universally aligned, mind-blowing and amazing”.

Now 32 years old, the actress reunited with Carrey, 63, on stage at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8.

Momsen shared that just the sight of him “was the most wonderful thing that could have possibly happened. The crazy thing is that he was the same guy. I didn’t know what to expect because it’s been 25 years.”

She added: “When we actually saw each other, hugged and embraced, it was like this overwhelming, overwhelmingly warm feeling of “I know you like that”.

The singer also claimed that Carrey “felt like home — it’s just the most accurate way to describe it”.

The Grinch is known to find acceptance in Cindy Lou, who famously stated: “I know he’s mean and hairy and smelly. His hands might be cold and clammy, but I think he’s actually kinda sweet”.

After finding lifelong fame playing fashion ‘It girl’ Jenny Humphries in the eternally watched New York drama, Gossip Girl, Momsen’s new single was something she “resisted [from doing] for a really long time”.

She concluded that “blood, sweat, and tears” went into the festive jingle, a product 25 years in the making and that her current happiness comes from all the “joy and smiles from all the responses” shared.

“I’m so glad that people are loving it and that I can share a piece of myself in this full circle way. It’s Christmas magic in its best form. I love it”.
