TV presenter Tess Daly looked in high spirits as she enjoyed a skiing trip in the French Alps and shared several snaps from the excursion to the slopes on Friday
Tess Daly was all smiles as she embarked on a family ski holiday, ahead of her daughter Phoebe’s relocation to New York City.
The 56 year old telly star took to Instagram on Friday, sharing a series of photos from their adventure in the French Alps. The former Strictly Come Dancing host was seen bundled up in a cosy white woolly jacket and cream trousers.
Her blonde tresses cascaded freely over her shoulders, while she completed her look with black boots and chic sunglasses. Phoebe, 21, chose a shiny silver coat paired with burgundy and white patterned trousers, and accessorised with a dark handbag.
Tess also posted pictures with her husband Vernon, 51, who was dressed in a matching black jacket, trousers and beanie hat. The couple, who tied the knot in 2003, are also proud parents to their younger daughter Amber, 16. Alongside the post, Tess penned: “Hitting the slopes for the first time since I was 17 made for an eventful trip last week.”
This comes after Tess’ daughter Phoebe shared some huge family news as she announced her move to New York City. The 21 year old shared a photo of herself at a rooftop bar in the Big Apple on Instagram on Thursday. It seems to be a temporary move for Phoebe though, as she captioned the snap: “Home for a while…”
Phoebe also added to her profile’s bio : “Heyyyy LDN/NYC”. She has not shared the reason behind her relocation or how long she will be in the city for, but the move is recent, as she was in the UK for the end of her mother’s run on Strictly Come Dancing. Phoebe was backstage at this year’s Strictly final, which marked the last live Strictly show presented by her mother Tess and co-host Claudia Winkleman, following their decision to leave the show.
The duo were honoured with a special tribute VT after the highlights of this year’s series were broadcast. However, they were left stunned as Craig Revel Horwood read out a special letter from Her Majesty The Queen. It stated: “Tess and Claudia, as you prepare to take your final twirl, I just want to say thank you on behalf of the millions who watch you each week.”
“I have often thought that Strictly is not so much a show about dancing as about friendships, the bonds forged, the struggles overcome, and the joy shared in undertaking a joint endeavour.”
“If that is true, then perhaps yours has been the greatest strictly partnership of all. The warmth, compassion, and sheer happiness you have radiated with and from each other has been at the heart of the show’s success.”
“I think I speak for everyone when I say you have been utterly fabulous. I wish you both every success in wherever life’s journey takes you next, but as one who has appreciated its lifelong benefits, do promise us one thing, keep dancing. With the warmest gratitude and admiration, Her Royal Highness, Queen Camilla.”
Tess, who started hosting the BBC show in 2004, decided to leave the series this year. She and her co-host Claudia released a joint statement in September announcing their departure from the show after over 20 years on it.
In a video put on Instagram, Tess and Claudia said: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together, and now feels like the right time.
“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series, and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show.
“They’re the most brilliant team, and we’ll miss them every day. We will cry when we say the last ‘keep dancing’, but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.”
After the pair’s final live show, Phoebe took to Instagram to praise her mother. Phoebe penned: “Wow. What an incredible Strictly Come Dancing final last night.
“The love and joy strictly creates is something magical and I’m so lucky to have seen my mum work with the absolute best people. Last night was definitely an emotional one, but most importantly it was a celebration of the show and the 21 years mum has been doing it.”
She continued: “Mum you are a true inspiration to me I will hold all these Strictly memories close to my heart forever. It’s been in my life since the day mum was pregnant with me so I don’t know life without Strictly and for that reason I will forever be the shows number one fan.”
