Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Strictly Come Dancing’s hosts, announced this morning that they are leaving.
In a video that Tess and Claudia shared their decision to “pass the baton” on to new presenters, the pair made an appearance together and posted it on Tess and Claudia’s Instagram pages. Claudia, 53, has been her co-host for 15 years while Tess, 56, has been hosting the program for 21 years.
The Strictly actors also posted their own separate statements on social media to confirm the news, along with the joint video.

Claudia began the video by saying, “Hi, it’s Claud and Tess. We want to hear from you about some rumors that have occurred. “.
Tess then stated, “Yes, we have news.” We’ve decided that it’s time to step aside and carry on the Strictly legacy for 21 wonderful and joyful years. “
“The very sparkly baton,” the author says. Before she turned to Tess, Claudia continued, “You’ve been here since the beginning.”
Tess then responded, “2004 with Brucey, lovely Bruce.” That was over 20 years ago, and you have retained much of it. Hasn’t it been a significant part of our lives? Since our children were sexy babies in the beginning, we have cherished every second, in my opinion.
We have, we’re so fortunate to have been a part of this amazing show, Claudia continued, “We just want to thank the Strictly team because Strictly is the person who makes it so thank you.” They are the best television team we’ve been so fortunate to have,” Tess said. They’ve also had a great time with the audience. They have been with us for the past 21 years, and they have provided us with such a show.

They also included a caption that read, “We have loved working as a duo, and hosting Strictly has been a dream. We had planned to leave together before, but now it seems appropriate. We just want to say a huge thank you to the BBC and to everyone who volunteers for the show so that we can watch it for the longest while it lasts. Additionally, the two made separate news releases. The time has come to bid Strictly Come Dancing adieu, Tess said in a statement that read “After 21 unforgettable years.”
“It’s difficult to express in words what this show has meant to me,” he said.
“Strictly has been more than just a television program. Since that very first show in 2004, I’ve had a second child, a second family, and it’s felt like having a third child. I was aware of the magic it would create when it first arrived, but I never had.
Strictly has always been about bringing people together, and I’m so proud to have played a small part in something that still means a lot to so many.
“From the very beginning of the series, I had the great honor of standing alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth.”
Tess continued, “Brucie set the tone for everything Strictly became: warmth, wit, connection, and pure showbiz magic.”
“I have always been in awe of our superbly talented professional dancers, our exceptional judges, and all the famous people who participated.” Every single member of the Strictly team who has worked so tirelessly to make this show what it is, is absolutely wonderful. You are the best in the industry; you are the most amiable, most devoted, and unquestionably the most difficult working team in television.
“Thank you for the years of laughter, friendship, and countless memories. You have touched my heart in a way that I’ll never forget. You’ll be sorely missed.
The viewers at home, thank you in particular for what you do. Thank you for more than 20 years of welcoming us into your homes.
Tess continued, “Your love, loyalty, and unwavering support have meant the world.” You have endured the entire series without ever taking anything for granted. I feel so fortunate to have shared this show with you because you are the show’s heart. One of my greatest pleasures and privileges has been spending your weekends from September to Christmas for the past 21 years.
What a wonderful experience it has been sharing this adventure with you, dear Claud. You’re unique, and I’ll treasure every moment we spend together on the stage. I’ll treasure every giggle, every live performance, and every moment we’ve had. I’m so blessed to have you as my forever friend.
I can’t ever say goodbye to glitter, sequins, or Saturday night sparkle (I can never do that!). Strictly will always be special to me, but it definitely feels like the right time to transition. Tess x, with all of my love and unending gratitude,

Claudia also shared heartfelt photos of her time on Strictly with Tess in the Instagram caption.
It’s very difficult to express what Strictly has meant to me in words, Claudia said. The best relationship I’ve ever had has been. It has been my life’s work since I started working on It Takes Two in 2004. I’m forever grateful for this. Len Goodman’s attempt to explain what a cucaracha is (which I still don’t know) and the incredible honor and thrill of cohosting with Tess on the results show will never go away.
It’s been a privilege to be a small part of the magical, glittery, fake tanned train, “Strictly is a beautiful, glittery, and real train.” The incredible talent of the dancers, the band, the hair and makeup, and costume teams, as well as the incredible production team and creatives, are all truly amazing. I’ve always believed that leaving a party before you’re ready to go is best, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Strictly fared.
