These days Taylor Swift is engaged to Travis Kelce, but before she met him she revealed she feared there was ‘no one for me in the world’ after going through two break ups

Taylor Swift has shared a heartbreaking admission about her love life in her new The End of an Era documentary.

The 36-year-old revealed that after going through two breakups in short succession in early 2023 – splitting from British actor Joe Alwyn after a six-year romance and then her fling with The 1975 frontman Matt Healy – she feared there was “no one for me in the world”.

That was until she met American football star Travis Kelce, also 36, who she was since called the “love of my life”. After a two year romance Travis popped the question and the pair became engaged in August this year.

Opening up on how her Eras tour was “the only thing that was really keeping me going in my life” before meeting Travis, Taylor said: “There were never points in the tour where I thought, ‘Oh you know what? I want to quit the tour ’cause the tour’s hard. No, my personal life was hard. I went through two breakups on the first half of this tour – that’s a lot of breakups actually. The show was what gave me purpose and was what I could use to get me out of bed.”

Taylor continued in the Disney documentary: “So, the tour has never been the hard thing in my life. The tour has been the thing that allowed me to find purpose outside of the s*** that was going wrong in my life.” She added with a smile: “Men will let you down, the Eras tour never will.’

Describing writing songs a ‘form of therapy’, Taylor went on to say: “Tortured Poets album is like this purge of just like everything bad that I felt for two years. It was a really rough time in my life, so the songs reflect that.

“Feeling like I’m not a person, I’m just this big conglomerate that no one sees as a real human being, and especially not the men I date. And in the whole process just being like… nothing, nothing works. There’s no one for me in the world.”

Of course, now Taylor is loved up with Travis, who she first began dating in July 2023. Reflecting on her ‘good year’ in 2025 during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the US, Taylor said she was ‘grateful’ he had come into her life.

She shared: “That’s a good year. Like, those two things you just mentioned – getting engaged to the love of my life and getting all my music back – those are two things that just never could have happened.

“They could have just never happened. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, it’s just a matter of time.’ Both those things could have just never arrived in my life. And I’m so grateful for both of those things happening.”

Straight off the back of releasing her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor has been busy promoting her The End of an Era docuseries and The Eras Tour Final Show, which is now available to stream on Disney+.

Speaking about the Eras tour – which Taylor said paid for her to get her music back – she said that not even illness would stop her going on stage so as not to let her fans down. She said: “I make a decision at the beginning of the tour that there is no option to not to go on stage. That’s not an option. Even if you have the stomach flu, which I had multiple times during the tour, my goal was to never let them know you have the stomach flu.

“I think it’s also about knowing that there is something bigger than you. And for me, on that tour, the bigger thing was these people have saved up their money, they have rearranged their schedules, they have arranged transportation, they’ve had parties, they have created costumes, they’ve made friendship bracelets. I’m doing the show!”
