Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce became the only two people to date each other before she started dating an athlete.
Taylor Swift has revealed who played matchmaker in getting her and fiancé Travis Kelce together.
In the fourth episode of her docuseries, The End of an Era, which is currently streaming on Disney, the 36-year-old revealed her romance with the 36-year-old American football player.
Travis made headlines in the summer of 2023 after saying on his podcast from New Heights that he couldn’t give Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it while attending her Kansas City concert.
However, after finding the story online, Andrea, Taylor’s mother, made the arrangements for the pair to meet. Andrea tells her daughter in the documentary, “I’m perusing what’s on the internet and looking at the headlines.” And I notice that a man brought a friendship bracelet to your show. and desires to meet you. And then, of course, I call up my cousin Robin, my Kansas City Chiefs resident expert, and say, “Tell me about this guy Traivs Kelce.”

Andrea continued: “And she goes, ‘Oh my god, he’s the nicest guy, and you know what, he really loves his mom – and I went, ‘ding, ding, ding, ding.’ Then I said, ‘Now, how in the world am I gonna get her to meet him?’”
Taylor has previously dated actors or musicians like Joe Alwyn, Taylor Lautner, Calvin Harris, Joe Jonas, and Matty Healy, despite having a number of high-profile romances in the past.
She acknowledged that she had never considered dating a top-level athlete like Travis. She responded, “Well, what would we talk about?” because she is not an athlete by herself. However, Andrea, her mother, was determined to experiment with Travis and her daughter.
It worked, and Travis even explained football to her on their first date, saying it was “violent chess,” which made her more aware of it. She continued, “And then I kind of grew obsessed with him and grew more obsessed with learning football.” biggest surprise of my life.
Two years after meeting, Taylor and Travis shared the happy news they were engaged in August 2025. Posting the news on Instagram with a photo of Taylor gazing lovingly into Travis’ eyes, she told fans: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
In a garden, Travis sat down on one knee and was surrounded by stunning flowers. One large diamond thought to be eight to ten carats is thought to have been a design by Travis, and her engagement ring is believed to have been on a gold band. It is rumored to have a value of more than £1 million.
Taylor previously told The Wall Street Journal: “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. Right away, we immediately began hanging out. We actually spent a lot of time together, which no one else did, because we eventually became friends.
We were a couple by the time I attended that first game. Some people, in my opinion, believe they saw our first date at that game. We’d never be psychotic enough to force a first date.
In an open conversation with the magazine, Travis also revealed how impressed he was with Taylor and how being around her has been “mind-blowing.” Every day I learn.
Disney is currently streaming The End of an Era’s first four episodes. On December 23rd, the final two episodes will be airing next week.
