Taylor Swift has repurposed her ruby red Grammys ‘T’ thigh chain yet again, leading the initial jewellery trend for the new season
Taylor Swift had everyone talking earlier this year when she donned a glitzy red-gem chain with a ‘T’ initial on her thigh at the Grammys. It posed the question as to whether the ‘T’ is for Taylor or Travis, with her seemingly confirming it was for beau Travis Kelce after repurposing the chain into a necklace the following week at Travis’ football match.
Naturally, as with everything Taylor Swift does, this sparked a new trend of initial and personalised jewellery. We’ve seen more celebrities follow in suit, including Sabrina Carpenter, Michelle Keegan, and even royalty with Princess Kate.
And Taylor has re-worn her ‘T’ necklace yet again to celebrate her fellow WAG, Brittany Mahomes’s birthday.
Of course, this trend isn’t exactly new, but it seems to be more popular than ever. And we predict this trend is only going to take off further this autumn, especially with Taylor’s seal of approval and the imminent release of her new album.

Jewellery brand PRYA has found that initial jewellery sales have surged 150% year-on-year, proving it to be one of the biggest accessory trends of the moment. Talking about Taylor re-purposing her initial body chain, PRYA’s in-house Style Director, Arwa Hassan, says: “With this necklace adaptation, we’re seeing statement pieces evolve from special occasions to everyday fashion.
Taylor Swift doesn’t follow trends, she sets them. Her inventive approach inspires fans to experiment, making body chains and initial pendants a core part of meaningful, personalised fashion.”
Taylor’s ruby-studded chain is a custom piece from Lorraine Schwartz, and therefore not available for fans to purchase. However, we’ve rounded up a few of our current favourite initial jewellery pieces to shop right now.
