Taylor Swift, a pop star, just released her 12th album today, making it seem as though she has used some incredibly cryptic clues to dig at her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Taylor Swift fans have been left convinced she’s hit out at her ex Joe Alwyn in her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. The pop star released her 12th album today, with fans trawling through each lyric to work out references to her personal life.
She has detailed her love for fiancé Travis Kelce on the album following their engagement over the summer. And Taylor also didn’t mince her words on Actually Romantic where she appeared to reference her feud with Charli XCX.
Some fans, however, are left persuaded that she is now singing about her ex-boyfriend Joe. After six years of dating, Joe and Taylor parted ways in April 2023, according to a source who insisted that the end was minor.

They explained to Page Six that the relationship had “just “just flowed.” Taylor “pledged allegiance” to a love interest who “dug her out of her grave,” according to Taylor’s new song, The Fate of Ophelia.
Taylor sings that “the fate of Ophelia was saved from my heart,” according to fans who believe Travis to be the singer. Shakespeare abruptly ends his romantic relationship with Ophelia in Hamlet, telling her to “get thee to a nunnery.”
Hamlet also chooses to murder her father Polonius by accident. Following her agonizing, Ophelia tragically drowns in what is interpreted as suicide.
Swifties are largely certain that the song is about Travis’s swoon following Taylor’s breakup from Joe, who also appears in a recent Hamlet film adaptation.
Shakespeare and his wife’s daughter dies after their young son, according to the actor, who also starred in the movie Hamnet. According to one fan, “Mind you Joe Alwyn is starring in Hamlet this year” and “Tay wrote The Fate of Ophelia.”
Another commented, “I know Taylor chose Olivia’s fate because Joe is from Hamnet and Hamlet, but I can’t prove it.” Someone else said, “And when will we clock that Taylor wrote the fate of Opel because Joe is in a new hamlet adaptation and Hamnet.”
A fourth person wrote, “Officially, the fate of ophelia is sooo good and iconic because she romanticized Joe and her depressive relationship for a long time and now she finally admits that their relationship was going to end me.” and Taylor helped her rekindle her inner joy.
Joe has remained tight lipped on his romance with Taylor but he did describe it as a “hard thing to navigate”. He told the Sunday Times last year: “What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”
Fans assumed Taylor had made a dig at Joe on her previous album, Tortured Poets Department. The group chat Joe and his pals Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott titled Tortured Men’s Club appeared to be a brutal swipe at it.
