Katie Taylor has informed the WBC that she intends to stop competing and compete for a while, and she has been given the title of “Champion in Recess.”

Amanda Serrano and the undisputed light-welterweight champion won their three-fight fight in New York on July 11.

In what would become the third leg of a trilogy, the WBC announced that she would have to face Chantelle Cameron in a title defense.

However, Taylor has now been recognized as its emeritus champion, with Cameron now vying with Sandy Ryan for the vacant belt after informing the body that she plans to take some time off “to attend personal matters.”

Due to the status she has been given, Taylor would be in the first position to challenge for the ring if she made the decision to do so in the future.

She informed us that she intends to take some time off from the ring to work on personal matters, according to WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán.

Hearn notes that Taylor’s decision is “unlikely this year.”

The WBC confers the title of emeritus champion to boxers who they believe have had a distinguished career.

It is awarded when a fighter moves up in weight and competes for the regular title to maintain the sport’s spirit, such as injuries or personal issues that prevent them from competing for a while.

Taylor, who won a fight at Croke Park in July, has stated that she will return to the ring as a result of her carer’s statement to Matchroom Boxing’s Flash Knockdown Podcast.

Since Dublin Stadium hosts regular GAA games, it’s unlikely that it will be possible until at least next August.

Eddie Hearn, Taylor’s promoter, stated in a statement released last week in Belfast that he does not believe the Bray woman will make a decision until the new year.

She’s going to have Christmas, so in his head, he said, “She’s definitely not going to fight again this year or early next year because time will allow you to make a decision, so give yourself time.”
