Callum Grigor, a British superbike rider, was taken into an induced coma following a collision at Donington Park.
On Saturday’s first lap of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship race, the 26-year-old Scot exited his bike.
On the way to Goddards Corner in the Leicestershire circuit, Grigor and fellow rider Nathan Harrison collided.
The medical team immediately arrived at the scene of the race, according to a statement from Motorsport Vision Racing, a race organiser, and it was posted on the British Superbike website.
Callum Grigor was discovered to be seriously ill and required immediate trackside care, including being placed in an induced coma.
Harrison, 27, from Isle of Man, received treatment for an “isolated limb injury” at the hospital.
