Rasheedat Ajibade, the super team’s captain, has revealed her team’s strategy to strive for excellence.

Following an impressive performance at the Moroccan Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament last Saturday, the dynamic winger made the statement on Monday at the State House in Abuja during a presidential reception for the players.

At a reception held in honor of the Super Falcons in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025, President Bola Tinubu received the WAFCON trophy.

We shouldn’t rest on our laurels, they say. Our vision is bold. She stated, “We want to be the world’s best women’s football team.”

“Today, I stand before you with the dreams, resilience, and spirit of our great nation, not just as the Super Falcons’ captain, but as a proud Nigerian daughter.”

I extend my sincere gratitude to my teammates, coaches, and technical staff for this warm welcome and your unwavering faith in us, she continued.

She also emphasized the significance of their tenth WAFCON title.

This victory is more than just a trophy, they say. It demonstrates Nigeria’s unwavering spirit. This 10th title is dedicated to each young girl who dares dream in our towns, cities, and villages. It is also dedicated to each young child who believes and aspires to be on this stage someday.

Ajibade demanded that the government and all interested parties continue to support Nigeria’s efforts to improve its standing among women’s football.

Following their historic victory at Morocco’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), President Bola Tinubu gave national honors to all 24 players and the 11-member technical team of Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons.

President Tinubu presented each player and member of the technical crew with the title of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) at the ceremony held in their honor.

In the government’s Renewed Hope Housing Scheme, he also directed the allocation of one three-bedroom apartments to each player and technical crew member.

The President approved a cash award of the naira equivalent of $100, 000 for each of the 24 players and $50, 000 for each member of the technical team.

You have inspired “you have a million people,” particularly young girls, who now have evidence that their aspirations are achievable and valid.

“You have also inspirated me. And having assets that can provide the hope of today, tomorrow, and the day after is wonderful. That hope is embodied in you. That hope was sparked by you. And we’ll keep encouraging you, the next generation, and the generations that follow you,” President Tinubu said as the team gathered to congratulate each other.

The President recalled the team’s emotional performance from the final game, praising how the team’s performance lifted the nation’s spirits and brought together Nigerians from all walks of life.
