Reinildo Mandava has been signed by Sunderland for a two-year contract with Atletico Madrid.

At the conclusion of their most recent Club World Cup campaign, the 31-year-old, referred to as Reinildo, had terminated his contract with the Spanish side.

He made 99 appearances for Atletico after leaving Lille in 2022.

The Mozambique international described the move as “a dream come true because it has always been my ambition to play in the Premier League”

“I’m excited to meet the team, fight, and give everything to the club. I want to contribute, give my team-mates power, and share my knowledge of the dressing room.

I will give everything in my power to make people happy, and that is what I apologise for.

As Sunderland prepare for their first Premier League season since 2016-17, Reinildo is their fourth summer signing.
