Granit Xhaka, a former Arsenal midfielder, has joined Sunderland from Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

The newly promoted Premier League side has offered the Switzerland international a three-year deal.

The Swiss midfielder will cost the Black Cats an initial £13 million fee, with the possibility of adding an additional £4 million in additions.

The number 34 shirt will be worn at the Stadium of Light, which Xhaka previously held for seven years at Arsenal before joining Leverkusen in 2023.

“It’s exactly what I wanted,” the author states. We want to stay here so that we can write our own history and return to where this club was going.

I don’t feel like adding my experience, but I’m also willing to sacrifice quality for the team.

Before leaving Arsenal in 2023, Xhaka captained the team after winning two FA Cups and making a brief start as captain.

During his first season at Leverkusen, Xhaka led the German team to their first Bundesliga title.

He did, however, express his desire to return to the Premier League after Xabi Alonso left as head coach at the end of the season.

Sunderland’s summer spending has increased past the £100 million mark with the arrival of Xhaka.
