Callum Wilson, the club’s striker, stated after confirming his departure that “all good things come to an end.”

The former England international left St. James’ Park last week after failing to agree on a new deal. His contract expired.

Newcastle thanked Wilson for playing a “huge part in our success in recent years” by scoring 49 goals in 130 appearances.

After an incredible few years at the Toon, Wilson said in a statement, “To all you Magpies, it’s time to say goodbye.”

“Thank you very much for everything. Through the highs and lows, we remained strong, enabling the club to reach new heights.

Wilson has reportedly shown interest in the Premier League, with his options also extending to Major League Soccer.

Wilson spent five years on Tyneside before moving to Newcastle from Bournemouth for about £20 million in 2020.

Last season, he had back and hamstring injuries, and he only managed 18 Premier League appearances.

Wilson continued, “I’m so happy to have worn the recognizable number 9 shirt and to have given it a little more history.”

“Scoring at the Gallowgate end is as special as they say,” he said.
