As Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman discussed their decision to leave Strictly Come Dancing, people were emotional. The duo announced on Thursday morning that they would both leave the current series and join the BBC.
And they shared their emotions as they opened the first show since making their joint statement. They thanked the fans for their continued support as they announced icons week.
We have eight weeks to air this incredible show, Claudia said, “We want to thank you for your beautiful messages.”
Tess then stated, “We can’t wait to spend the rest of the show with you, our amazing couples, and of course, these four. We can’t wait to have these judges.”
Fans were quick to express their emotions online. One user wrote, “Eye, claud leaving, every time,” along with two broken hearts emojis, on Twitter/X. Since 2010, Tess has been presenting alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth, and Claudia has been the show’s face since 2010. They stated in a statement on Thursday that “we have loved working as a duo, and hosting Strictly has been a dream.
We were always going to leave together, but now it seems appropriate to do so. We just want to say a huge thank you to the BBC and to everyone who volunteers for the show so that we can watch it for the longest while it lasts.
“We’ll miss them every day because they’re the most brilliant team.” When we say the final, “keep dancing,” we will cry, but we’ll keep saying it to one another. Just possibly while eating some pizza while wearing tracksuit bottoms at home.
