Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu, the stars of Strictly Come Dancing, appear to have rekindled their feud after discontinuing contact on social media, reportedly in response to growing backstage rifts between the once-close pair.
They once called each other “baby brother” and “favourite sister”, but now it seems Strictly Come Dancing pros Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu have seemingly fallen out again after unfollowing each other on Instagram.
Carlos, 32, and Nancy, 34, share a long history, having grown up together in China before both joining the hit BBC show. Their close friendship was clear for all to see, both on and off screen. But the relationship appears to have soured behind the scenes.
Carlos and Karen Carney, 38, are in a match for the series this year, with Nancy completely missing. She shared a skit in which she appeared unsure while others watched her in an emotional Instagram video that dealt with the disappointment. Then she addressed the fans directly through the camera. I’m okay, Nancy said. As you all know by now, this year’s Strictly Come Dancing doesn’t feature me as a dancer. When I first started receiving the messages, it did both upset and depress me. She continued, “I came from China and arrived in this country with the only goal I had,” has given me such a large platform to showcase my abilities and talent. adding, “Of course, I felt left out] this year, but I’m good. because I’m still a member of the Strictly family.

Childhood best friends
Last year, insiders revealed the pair were no longer on speaking terms, which Carlos later confirmed for the first time. He told the Daily Mail, “We’re fine. We’ve been friends since childhood, and friends argue, we’re too close and are like brother and sister to completely fall out.” However, the pair no longer follow each other online, according to reports.
snub on social media
As her co-stars rushed to show their love following her post about not having a dance partner this year, Nancy was met with overwhelming emotion. Oti Mabuse, a former pro, once said, “Love you angel, you are the sweetest friend and most patient.” And it’s fun to watch you live your dream on Saturday. While Kai Widdrington continued, “You star will always shine bright, beautiful Nancy,” Carlos was noticeably absent, though.
Nancy’s frustration is nothing new, as despite performing well in previous series – including a standout run with Shayne Ward – she’s been overlooked again this year. An insider explained, “Nancy is upset that she’s been benched again – despite having a brilliant run with Harry during the Christmas series.”
She added, “She is absolutely incensed by it all and has said she can’t figure out what she’s done to get producers to snub her.”
Last year, she won the Christmas special with Jamie Borthwick, yet when he returned for the main show, he was partnered with another pro.
Backstage angst
Despite receiving public reassurances, the pair’s relationship backstage has reportedly become uncomfortable. They’ve been friends since they were young, but they’ve since broken up and stopped following one another on social media, a source told The Sun last year. When both actors are present, the atmosphere on set is said to be awkward and tense.
On Strictly premises, another insider confirmed to MailOnline that Carlos and Nancy are “extremely cordial and always incredibly professional.”
Despite the setback, Nancy is determined to continue playing the show and has promised to do so.
Because I’ll be supporting my Strictly family with all of my energy, you’ll probably hear my voice this year more than ever. She said, “I’ll be cheering for them there.” You can also find me on Morning Live and It Takes Two, which are both good things.
She ended the heartfelt message by thanking fans: “All of your kindness and messages has meant the world to me. I just want you all to know and send all my love to you.”
