The Strictly Come Dancing star, who competed in the most recent series of the BBC show, revealed that he “wasn’t selected”, but that doesn’t mean he’s hung up his shoes just yet
A Strictly Come Dancing star claims he was snubbed from the upcoming live show as he was “too far down the pecking order”. Chris Robshaw, a former rugby union player who competed in the latest series of the BBC show, exited Strictly in week four back in October 2025, alongside his professional partner, Nadiya Bychkova.
He was the third contestant to leave the series, which was ultimately won by Karen Carney and Carlos Gu, after being eliminated in the dreaded dance-off against EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.
In the fateful episode, Chris and Nadiya performed a salsa to Maria by US singer-songwriter Ricky Martin, while Balvinder and Julian showcased their paso doble to Diablo Rojo by Rodrigo y Gabriela.
Strictly judges Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas voted to save Chris, but Motsi Mabuse and deciding voter Craig Revel Horwood chose Balvinder, spelling the end for Chris’ ballroom journey.
Now that the 2025 series has wrapped, the Strictly live tour is set to begin in Birmingham next week. Sadly, however, Chris “wasn’t selected”, but that doesn’t mean he’s hung up his dancing shoes just yet.
Speaking at the Royal Albert Hall during the premiere of OVO by Cirque Du Soleil, he told The Mail’s Richard Eden: “I wasn’t selected unfortunately. I was too far down the pecking order, which is a shame, as it would have been great fun.
“So it’s back to the rugby world and maybe I’ll dance in the corporate rooms with a glass of champagne.”
It hasn’t discouraged him from practicing his moves at home either. Chris, who shares a one-year-old son named Hunter with his wife, Camilla Kerslake, revealed that they “dance with our little boy”.
He added: “We dance with our little boy because he also likes dancing. Pretty much all the music I danced to on the show he loves, so we always have it on. “
Following his departure from the show last year, Chris shared his thanks to those on the show for what he termed to be an “amazing journey”, with his exit reportedly met with sadness from the other competitors and his wife.
Indeed, she even revealed that she “wanted to climb over the desk” and give a certain judge “what for”.
Speaking previously to The Mail, she said: “I hope my big mouth won’t get Chris in the bottom two.
“I was furious last week, a protective wife, and I wanted to climb over the desk and give Craig what for. I’m so protective of my husband. I know how hard he’s working, how much this means to him, and I reacted. “
Representatives of the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour have been contacted for comment.
