After being a witness to a vicious stabbing while he was a teenager, a former Strictly Come Dancing star revealed that he was forced to testify at London’s Old Bailey.

A Strictly Come Dancing star has recalled the horrific ordeal which has impacted their mental health. DJ and TV presenter Tyler West, who is engaged to actress Molly Rainford, has revealed that as a teenager, he saw a man being stabbed to death in a terrifying moment which has had a “knock-on effect” on his mental health.

The 29 year old star, who took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 where he met future wife Molly, said it’s left him with issues surrounding “control” and the desire to push himself beyond his comfort zone during his stint on BBC One’s Celebrity Race Across The World.

The Kiss FM DJ and his fiancée are two of the famous faces taking part in this year’s show, which features four celebrities and their loved ones attempting to complete a 3,670-mile race through Central America.

Speaking to his EastEnders star girlfriend Molly, he said: “I didn’t know this would be this much outside of my comfort zone. I always like to be in control of things, or know what I’m getting myself into. If I can control it, I feel like I can then look after the situation the best I possibly can. When I compare it to when I was a teenager, it was on another level.

I wanted to put a stop to something that was completely beyond my control, and I was absolutely terrified of it. You make you feel helpless, and I simply don’t want to feel that way ever. When these three men started fighting outside my house one day when I was returning from school, “he later revealed emotionally.”

He recalls that one of the two men had a 12-inch kitchen knife in his hand when he struck the man who was on his own. “All of a sudden, it felt like I was watching this man get like stabbed to death while I was staring at my bedroom window at 14.” One of my life’s most horrible experiences occurred.

I just recall being at the Old Bailey and being petrified of so many things, such as, “Will all these people be able to see me?” Do they know that I’m giving evidence? And it had such a negative impact on my mental health because I just didn’t know how to process it. I spent about two years inside. It was just really hard, and it matured me very quickly.

During Thursday’s episode of the reality competition show, the celebrities were told they had to head to Liberia in Costa Rica, after the show was refused filming permissions in Nicaragua.
