Rachel Maya Lopez, 30, and Lewis Cope, 30, both expressed support for their engagement to Strictly Come Dancing and regularly cooks for him before rehearsals.
Strictly Come Dancing star Lewis Cope has revealed what his girlfriend thinks of his partnership with Katya Jones on the show.
The 30-year-old actor, who began his career as a child actor appearing in a West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical and played Nicky Miligan on Emmerdale, has said pilates instructor Rachel Maya Lopez is his “biggest supporter” and ensures he is always looked after. Lewis described his girlfriend as “fantastic and amazing” while adding that they enjoyed a holiday together before he joined Strictly.
He added that Rachel hasn’t had to kiss other people on stage because of the nature of his job as an actor, which hasn’t been a problem. There is no conflict between his girlfriend and his Strictly partner, 36-year-old Katya, he added, adding that they have met in any way.

The actor said: “She’s used to kiss me kissing boys, but it hasn’t been a problem. Over the years, I’ve had to kiss a lot of people on stage or onscreen, as an actor. Rachel and Katya have already met. We have never engaged in conversation.
He continued, “Rachel has been my biggest supporter, she sends me to rehearsals with a packed lunch, and she really looks after me.” She booked us a studio just before the performance, which she managed to get just for me. She is amazing and fantastic.
The couple started dating about eight years ago, but they don’t make regular red carpet appearances. Instead, they spend their free time exploring and traveling. On the night of the Strictly launch show, Rachel posted a video to her Instagram account revealing Lewis’s friends and family, as well as some of his 14 siblings, were joined by his dance partner Katya for the watch party.
Our Sweet Lew, we are right behind you, she wrote in the video. You are a truly wonderful person. After posting some of the highest scores in Weeks 1 and 2 and topping the leaderboard in Week 3, Lewis and Katya, who won the Glitterball in 2017, are already being predicted to win the series.
Lewis said his professional dance partner is “amazing with the choreography, but she is also such a bright energy” while performing his Couple’s Choice to Creep by Radiohead this evening. She always finds a way to make something work, he said to the publication, “Nothing never ever becomes a problem, even if I am struggling with something.” She is patient, has a small ego, and is able to work with me and make things work.
After appearing in Billy Elliot The Musical two decades ago, Lewis has however received criticism for having a dance background. Lewis explained why he believes the criticism is unfair and “insulting” to professionals, saying: “It’s strange to hear that I’m some sort of “professional dancer.” I’ve never danced professionally and it’s been a long time.
