Wynne Evans, the star of Strictly Come Dancing, broke his engagement to Liz Brookes just a few weeks after making the proposal during a romantic trip to Morocco.

The Welsh opera singer made hints that his relationship was “not healthy” in a Facebook Live stream he made this morning (June 2), and he admitted he is already getting back together.

Fans started rumors about the couple’s breakup last month after Wynne deleted his Instagram engagement post and deleted Liz’s social media accounts. The relationship appears to have ended completely right now.

The Strictly star initially proposed to her in June, but she is already moving forward and “trying to date” (Instagram/wynneevans).

According to sources close to Wynne’s relationship, the breakup was caused by his decision to start his own radio show in Carmarthen and his own restaurant there.

Wynne and Liz reportedly broke off their engagement a few weeks ago. His new business ventures were put under enormous pressure, and the results were disastrous. As they had previously split and managed to put things together, there was a belief they would eventually unite after the initial ache.

It’s safe to say that they’ve broken up for good this time, given Wynne’s continued efforts to date and her public declaration of the relationship as “not healthy.” Wynne Evans’ representatives have been in contact with The Mirror for comment.

Wynne first met Liz, who runs a successful events business in Wales, at one of her company’s corporate events in 2024. During his Strictly run, she frequently accompanied him and shared encouraging messages on social media.

Before his BBC appearance, Wynne had previously praised Liz for encouraging him to improve his fitness, saying to the podcast host, “I go out running with my girlfriend and stuff and I feel much better for it.”

Wynne shared the engagement ring with Liz in June, sharing the moment with her on Instagram with a number of images, including a close-up of the ring. He wrote, “Big news… I got engaged!” at the time in the caption. I proposed to Liz in Morocco this weekend, and she agreed, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me scurrying around the streets like a man without any spatial awareness. (I checked, no take-backs.)

She has excellent taste in men and is clever, kind, and kind. I have no idea how that was accomplished, but we are! Feeling incredibly lucky, content, and smug.

The Go Compare star’s split comes at the end of a turbulent year for him, who was fired earlier this year after making a controversial “spit roast” comment during the Strictly live tour. Wynne claimed he was forced to apologize, but later claimed the phrase was meant for Jamie Borthwick, not Janette Manrara, as was reported at the time. He has since parted ways with BBC Radio Wales.

Since then, he has since established his own online radio program and Welsh House by Wynne, which he has promised will feature dishes from MasterChef as a nod to his time on the baking show.
