Karen Hauer, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, revealed that she stopped drinking because she was using it to conceal her sensitive feelings and hide from troubling issues.

Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Hauer congratulated herself on being 12 months sober in an emotional social media post. The 43-year-old professional dancer on the BBC show shared her candid admission on Instagram, and the post was accompanied by an elegant black and white picture of her.

She declared, “One year alcohol free. For the first time, I confronted my raw self: terrified, depressed, and angry. also clearer. a break “Progressing” She continued, “I kept my mouth shut while I was merely having fun,” but I was genuinely closing my eyes and gritting my teeth hoping the pain would subside.

Karen revealed that giving up alcohol was the “bravest” thing she had ever done in her life despite having experienced the trauma of divorce for the third time last year. She continued, “The most brave thing I’ve ever done is stop running from myself,” adding:

She continued, “Now I’m gradually getting better at allowing myself to feel what I do and reasoning with myself.” Even when my mind overthinks and my heart rate rises. I’m okay with that because that’s how I go about healing.

She ended her post by giving thanks to her boyfriend and looking forward to the year ahead. “Here’s to many more positive days ahead, with love, support and my little family – Simon and my four gorgeous dogs. Take care of yourselves in 2026,” she wrote.

Her Strictly family eluded her heartfelt post’s comment section in a matter of seconds. The first two to acknowledge her sobriety included Jowita Przystal and Victor Pattison. The BBC ballroom show’s cast can occasionally be seen partying during breaks from rehearsals.

The broadcaster, however, has since updated its guidelines for professional conduct earlier this year. The Pro Dancer Guidelines document, which is 16 pages long, is called.

The Sun reports that professionals are prohibited from “wearing, drinking excessively, or sporting inappropriate clothing.” The document’s two parts, allegedly During and Outside the Strictly Period, are said to be divided into two.

She claimed in a previous interview that she had a significant impact after splitting with fellow professional dancer Kevin Clifton, particularly given how quickly she claimed he had left Stacey Dooley. She told Closer, “I don’t think we were ready for marriage,” when discussing her tumultuous romance with Kevin.

She continued, “We were still developing as performers, as people, as lovers, and sometimes you just can’t seem to fix things.” She also revealed that her jealousy had hampered their marriage while on the podcast Divorce Club.

She openly acknowledged that after the fights, I started acting jealous because I wasn’t getting the attention I wanted from my husband, and I couldn’t understand why I was trying to pull him. Why don’t you do this, exactly? Why don’t you do that, exactly? I only wanted answers, not exactly what you’re supposed to do. And then, she continued, it suddenly became extremely unpleasant.

The dancer claimed that they unsuccessfully sought professional assistance by consulting a counselor to help them through their issues. Following her separation from her third husband, Jordan Wyn-Jones, just 16 months after their wedding, Karen has been dating Simon Davidson for two years.

She claimed that her relationship with Jordan was “toxic” and that she was constantly in a panic while appearing on Paul C. Brunson’s podcast, We Need to Talk. She said, “Love shouldn’t be in panic, just like it should be.” He almost almost made up his plans to scare me so I wouldn’t leave.” She continued, “I was lying to him because that was the only way I could get through the day, and that would keep the peace,” adding that “not only I was lying to my family and friends, and they were seeing it.”
