As he prepares to make a fresh start in 2026 and “embracing” the “chaos,” Stormzy took to social media to post a lengthy, open statement.
Stormzy has been candid in a telling post as he looks back on 2025. The musician, whose real name is Michael Ebenzer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, revealed he felt like he had been “dying a slow death” of late.
The 32-year-old rapper burst onto the scene 10 years ago and had a meteoric rise to the top. Now, he has opened up on what he felt was a tough year. Taking to Instagram to share the honest statement, he wrote: “Ok, I’m ready. There’s poetry in all this chaos so lemme embrace it.”
He continued to discuss the “unexpected twists and turns” he was forced to endure last year. And he claimed that he was “robbed” by the difficult circumstances.
He continued: “Towards the end of 2024, my life took a few unexpected twists and turns and I was forced to pivot. These same events also robbed me of the wide-eyed innocence I once navigated the world with.

“Kinda like how you use to believe that Disneyland was powered by rainbows and fairy dust, and then one day you see a headless Mickey Mouse arguing on the phone and smoking a cigarette. This made me more resilient and put the final nail in the coffin of my desire to be understood – a part of me that, tbf, was already dying a slow death.”
He acknowledged in his statement that “my life must be restructured and rebuilt” and that he had to “rebuild my team.” The loss and heartache of it all was devastating, he said. “The world that I had come to know and love would never be the same again.
He continued, “The demands of this new season challenged every aspect of my being,” after saying he had no idea why he was experiencing discomfort in life. I had my physical, spiritual, professional, and creative needs tested.
“I had no choice but to go over every aspect of my life.” I have always been incredibly clear about my purpose and the direction that The Holy Spirit wants me to go in, which makes this season even more unsettling.
The star opened up about a number of events from the past year that he claimed he had learned from, though it wasn’t immediately clear what events the star was referring to. He then shared several photos from his 2025, including those of Barry Keoghan and other famous people.
While Stormzy turned off the comments to his post, it was liked by many of his followers, including former Love Island star and fellow singer Wes Nelson. Sam Thompson and Lisa Maffia also clicked the like button to show their support.
In November, the star revealed he was heartbroken by the death of his dog he shared with ex Maya Jama. He revealed his Rottweiler died seven years after he bought the protection dog for him and his ex-girlfriend.
He shared a number of photos and clips of Enzo throughout the time he had him, in a sweet tribute to his pet as he announced the depressing news at the time. He later wrote, “RIP my no. 1 boy. Have little to say; all that is devastated and heartbroken.
My boy, I adore you so much. You already know Enz meant a lot to me, and I’m going to miss you, my guy.
