A band member collapsed during a live performance and was given what was described as a cardiac arrest. The Christians at Liverpool’s Pier Head abruptly stopped their performance.

As the incident progressed, lead singer Garry Christian requested immediate medical attention, prompting the stage crew to install a privacy screen. The performer was treated before being taken away in an ambulance by emergency responders who quickly arrived.

Emma Bridget, a woman allegedly working for the band, delivered an emotional update to the stunned crowd:
We’re really hoping he’ll make it, he says. He apparently has a pulse right now, despite not having one. I appreciate you so much.

“We’re so devastated but thank you so much because Garry loves Liverpool and he wanted to put on the show of his life.”

Following the incident, fans were given the messages “We appreciate your patience and understanding.” The performer is being treated by medical personnel, and we’ll keep you informed as soon as possible” (Liverpool Echo).

As the situation developed, the crowd, which was in the thousands, remained quiet and concerned. No further information was provided regarding the performer’s current state.

The 2025 On the Waterfront festival’s final night will be held on Sunday. Since Thursday, thousands have flocked to the city’s waterfront to see a large number of musicians, and the festival has been taking place there.

Sting is scheduled to play the concert’s final night. As part of his STING 3.0 World Tour, the Grammy-winning artist is making his long-awaited return to the city.

The Christians, a Liverpool-born band, sold the most albums on Island Records and received international chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The band’s name was derived from the first three brothers in the lineup, which is fitting given that Henry Priestman’s middle name also appears in the band’s name.

Garry Christian (lead vocals), Roger Christian (vocals and instrumentalist), Russell Christian (keyboards, saxophone, vocals), and Henry Priestman (keyboards, guitars, vocals) founded The Christians in 1985. By accident, Princesman and I, despite not being a relative, shared the Christian name. Paul Barlow and Mike Bulger also played bass, Tony Jones, and Mike Bulger, who also played drums in the early days.

In 1987, Roger Christian left the band and instead concentrated on releasing a solo album. In 1998, he battled a brain tumor, and later passed away.
