On Sunday, Southampton’s new manager is expected to be announced.

The 32-year-old Englishman announced last weekend that he would be returning to the UK from French club Lens.

Southampton’s final Premier League game against Arsenal on Sunday will be played live from the St Mary’s stadium, according to multiple sources, including multiple reports from BBC Sport.

After their relegation, the Saints will return to the Championship next season under their new manager. He is expected to agree to a three-year contract with them.

Negotiations over Still’s appointment have complicated his decision to resign from his Ligue 1 Lens contract, which is up until 2027, as well as making his brothers Nicolas and Edward a part of it.

Emma Saunders, a presenter on Sky Sports and former BBC Sport employee, announced in March that she was recovering from encephalitis, a brain infection.

Still stated that the main motivation for his decision was that I needed to return home for a number of reasons.

Ivan Juric left in April after the club was expelled from the Premier League with a record seven games to play, and he would make a permanent comeback at Southampton.

Still, a son of English parents, was born in Belgium and began his football career at Beerse and Beerschot before moving to France, where he became the youngest coach in the top five leagues under the age of 30 when Reims appointed him as the youngest coach in Europe’s top 30 in October 2022.

He led Lens to a place eighth in the Ligue 1 title when he signed a three-year deal with the organization in June 2024.

Still’s departure has not yet been confirmed by Lens.
