Starting strokes for the Tour Championship’s season-ending tournament have been eliminated by the PGA Tour.

Since 2019, the format allowed players who had the most FedExCup points to begin the tournament on par with 10 points.

All 30 players will tee off at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta on level par for the event this year, though.

The FedExCup is a three-week long points competition that culminates in the Tour Championship and concludes with the Play-Offs.

The second-place player would begin with eight under, third with seven under, fourth with six under, and fifth with five under.

The remaining 25 players would be divided into five groups, with their starting score determined by their rank.

The Player Advisory Council led a thorough investigation, according to PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, in response to what our fans demanded: the most competitive golf in the world, played for the highest stakes, in the most straightforward and engaging format.

The PGA Tour stated it was “studying the qualification system for the future,” and there are other changes, such as a new course setup that is meant to “encourage more risk/reward moments.”

Colin Morikawa finished in second place, Scottie Scheffler finishing four shots clear of Colin Morikawa in the Tour Championship last year.

Last year, American Scheffler described the FedEx Cup play-off format as “silly.”
