Stalker sent underwear pictures to Liverpool midfielder Hobinger

Marie Hobinger, a father-of-two, has been subject to an 18-month community order and a two-year restraining order.

After Mangal Dalal, 42, sent her photos of underwear and claimed he wanted to rip her shorts off in messages on Instagram, the Austrian international expressed concern and claimed her performance on the pitch was impacted, Westminster Magistrates’ Court was informed.

According to the court, she had to alter her daily routine, was prevented from socializing with fans on game days, and felt anxious inside her own home.

In December, he admitted to stalking at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.

Judge Hina Rai gave the sentence, saying that his client was distressed by the content’s extreme sexuality and that it had an impact on her daily life.

Prosecutor David Burns testified to the court that Hobinger and David Burns both wanted to have children with her.

According to the court, the stress of the situation caused her to develop a skin condition.

She stated in her victim impact statement, “This incident has caused me to now struggle to sleep.”

She claimed that whenever she gets anxious and scared, the male may discover where she lives.

“I looked over my shoulder when it was dark.” I was confident in my safety, but I was anxious and rushed inside.

Hobinger added that my performance on the pitch was impacted by the events.

She said she would frequently shy away because she felt uncomfortable when fans took pictures, and that she did not want to be with them.

She continued, “I enjoy matchdays, and this is the time I should feel strong and focused.”

“I don’t think it’s acceptable to receive sexually explicit messages, despite being in the public eye.”

“I don’t think it’s acceptable to disrespect and sexualize women’s football,” I say.

No woman should have to deal with this kind of behavior, no matter what her position.

In this kind of of offending, the victim has no automatic right to anonymity.

Hobinger is thought to have been given that her significant impact on professional football was due to her prominent role.

In spite of the Dalals’ unwelcome attention, Hobinger described her club as “amazing” and called her “amazing.”

According to the court, he made his mobile number and postcode available in the sexually explicit messages posted between January 27, 2025, and February 16, 2025.

She was also requested to come see him.

The club’s safety officer traveled with her to games because the concerns about the Austrian’s safety so grew.

Dalal was spotted by the pitch at the end of a game in Manchester last February when he played there on an away trip.

He later admitted it in a police interview, claiming that he had been mentally ill.

Daniel Lister, who is defending, claimed Dalal had previously worked in investments and had good character.

He claimed that Hobinger had a psychotic episode in his client because of a medical condition he had been contacting.
