Stacey Dooley, a documentary maker and television presenter, revealed her secret fertility heartache after giving birth to her partner Kevin Clifton.
Stacey Dooley broke down in tears as she bravely opened up on suffering an ectopic pregnancy with husband Kevin Clifton. The documentary maker, 38, is a proud mum to daughter Minnie, who she shares with the Strictly Come Dancing professional.
They welcomed Minnie in January 2023, having met each other on the BBC dance competition back in 2018. Stacey shares occasional updates on their home life together, but decided to share more in a candid admission on her latest TV series.
The presenter stays over with Britain’s first legally recognized gay father, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, who also has Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, her hit. He has publicly backed the UK’s ban on commercial surrogacy.

Stacey discovered Barrie’s differences with him as he claimed his children should be beautiful.
Stacey made the decision to introduce Kevin to another child in a secret meeting with the camera. She said, “I have seen the struggle of having a child.”
“We obviously wanted to grow our family, but last year, I felt pregnant, and it didn’t go very well. … ectopic … Because this is so predictable, I apologize. I’m crying on a bed while I’m sitting here. It was extremely challenging and ectopic.
“There was an internal rupture, and emergency surgery was required. Of course, you are made to consider alternatives when going through something similar. You have to consider how to grow a bigger family if something happens, and it happens.
According to the NHS, an ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes. They say it is not possible to save the pregnancy, with 1 in 90 pregnancies being ectopic in the UK.
Earlier this year, Stacey candidly opened up about the challenges she’s faced since becoming a mother in 2023. During an appearance on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, she admitted that her sex life with Kevin took a backseat as their daughter sleeps in their bed.
Stacey said she doesn’t care because she’s content cuddling up to their two-year-old. We need to start remembering how to have sex, Stacey said.
Minnie is in our bed, she continued. I’m not really arrogant, though, because Kev is away from home indefinitely, even though I know there is such a focus on getting kids in their own beds.
What else am I doing? We might start recalling how you had sex when Kev returns to the scene. Then, perhaps, I would assume that you’re going to have to leave your own room right away.
