Former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller is reportedly considering a reunion with the pop group as digital avatars, in a similar vein to ABBA’s popular hologram show.
Talks are underway for the Spice Girls to make a comeback – but not in the usual way. Their former manager, Simon Fuller, is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing the iconic group back as digital avatars, following the path set by ABBA’s successful hologram residency.
Sources have revealed that Fuller has pitched this cutting-edge concept to the band, envisioning lifelike holograms of Geri Halliwell-Horner, Mel B and Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham performing their greatest hits. Although Victoria opted out of their 2019 tour, insiders say she’s open to this new approach as long as all the other members are on board. One insider shared: “Simon is eager to pull off one final spectacle with the Spice Girls, and this is his latest brainchild.
He believes that the Spice Girls would benefit greatly from using this approach because he was the creator of ABBA’s ground-breaking digital shows. This might be their best chance to reunite because it seems unlikely to happen once more because Victoria, for example, isn’t likely to be a full-time member.
The band responded favorably to Simon’s suggestion, the source said. Even Victoria vowed to support it if everyone else would concur. She continued, “She wouldn’t stand in the way.”
Fuller reportedly sees this venture as a way for the group to generate income effortlessly while also connecting with a brand-new generation of fans. “It’s an incredibly exciting concept, and he’s confident it can be pulled off,” the inside told The Sun.
The idea is similar to Simon’s pitch to ABBA nearly ten years ago, but they eventually switched to a more up-to-date production. The hologram residency of ABBA in East London has had a fantastic success and is now in its third year.
A virtual Spice Girls residency has previously been supported by Victoria herself. She responded, “That’s a great idea, I tell you, on American television in 2022,” when asked about the idea.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Geri and Simon had a secret meeting in Miami about plans for a reunion in 2026, which would celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the release of their debut single “Wannabe.”
Earlier this year, Mel C also hinted at a reunion, saying, “We have to do something special. Obviously, I can’t say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully a nice little world tour.”
