Sonia Bermudez, the manager of Spain, claims that her team wants to keep Aitana Bonmati’s injured midfielder’s leg in good condition.

The 27-year-old suffered a minor fall on Sunday during a practice session at the national team’s Madrid training facility.

Spain were getting ready for their Uefa Women’s Nations League match against Germany at the Metropolitano on Tuesday for the second leg.

The first leg of last Friday’s goalless first leg, in Kaiserslautern, was played by Bonmati for 77 minutes.

Bermudez stated, “Aitana wanted to stay for the final and be with us.”

We told her that because we put our players’ health first, she had to go back to Barcelona to begin her recovery.

We want to honor her with a victory for tomorrow.

Irene Paredes, the captain of Spain and one of the team’s players at Barcelona, said: “Nobody likes to see a team-mate hurt or hurt, so absences like Aitana’s can unsettle you.”

Her absence leaves a significant legacy for both Barca and the national team. She informed me about it, but I personally didn’t understand what transpired.

It was obvious that something serious had happened, and you could feel the pain in her eyes. We’ll continue to push each other, and I’m sending her lots of good wishes and encouragement for a full recovery.

According to a statement from the Royal Spanish Football Federation, “Bonmati was” identified with a fracture in her left fibula following tests conducted by the medical services.”

In order to decide whether to proceed with her treatment, Barcelona claimed they were holding off on her return to the club.

What would have otherwise been a stellar year for the midfielder comes to an unhappy conclusion with the injury setback.

Bonmati won the women’s ballon d’or three times, won the domestic triple with Barca, and advanced to the Euro 2025 final with Spain as the first player to do so.
