In the 27th season premiere of South Park, a naked Donald Trump was depicted in bed with Satan, a remark that sparked outrage from the US White House.

South Park co-creator Trey Parker hit back at anger from the White House over the depiction of a naked Donald Trump in bed with Satan in the animated series.

The reference featured in the first episode of the 27th series of the programme, which aired on Wednesday, following the team’s £1.19bn ($1.5 billion) deal with Paramount. The White House blasted the jibe, branding South Park a “fourth-rate show… with uninspired ideas.”

However, Mr. Parker, who together with Matt Stone created South Park in 1997, had the heaviest and briefest response to the backlash today. He yelled, “We’re terribly sorry,” and he remained silent for the camera and his audience.

As he sat on the stage at Comic-Con International in San Diego at the start of a Comedy Central animation panel, Mr. Parker, who also co-created The Book of Mormon, was asked what he thought of the incident. Mr. Stone also participated in the annual comic book convention in California.

In the episode, Mr. Trump files a lawsuit against the town of South Park after its residents object to the school’s primacy of Jesus Christ. They are instructed to settle by Jesus.

Although Mr Parker and Mr Stone recently signed a five-year deal with Paramount for 50 new episodes and streaming rights to previous seasons, they used the episode on Wednesday to take aim at the company’s its $16 million (£11.8 million) recent settlement with Mr Trump.

However, a White House spokesperson said in a statement following the season premiere that “this show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.” No fourth-rate show can stop President Trump’s hot streak, as he has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in the history of our nation.

Jesus responds, “You guys saw what happened to CBS,” in the episode. Yes, I suppose, but who is CBS’s owner? . . .Paramount Do you really want to “become Colbert”?

Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” was abruptly canceled by CBS and Paramount Global last week, days after Colbert sharply criticized Paramount’s handling of Mr. Trump’s lawsuit over a “60 Minutes” interview. According to executives from CBS and Paramount, “The Late Show” was axed because of financial reasons.

Fans claim that South Park’s production is so effective and its creators’ brinksmanship keeps it incredibly up-to-date for an animated series.
